We have taken the decision to suspend shipping to the United States for the time being.
This is not a comment on anyone’s politics, and we want to be clear about that. It is a decision about what we are willing to ask of you.
Import charges would now add roughly half again to the cost of one of our hats. That money is not going to the people who made it. At Cappelleria Bertacchi our prices are built around the value of the craft and the work of our artisans — every figure on our site traces back to someone’s hands and someone’s time. Asking you to pay a further sum that has nothing to do with that work sits badly with us, and we would rather not do it.
So we are pausing, rather than quietly passing the cost on.
If you have your heart set on one of our hats, please write to us directly. We will find a way to make it work.
